RFSU is looking for a new Head for its International Programme Unit
Would you like to play an active role in realising our vision of a world where everyone is free to decide over their body and sexuality? Do you want to see this freedom realised globally through effective and inclusive partnerships with like-minded organisations and allies worldwide? If your answer is yes to both questions, then you may just be our new Head for the International Programme Unit!
About the role
As the Head of Unit, your task is to develop, implement, and quality assure RFSU’s international programme and partnerships. This includes managing RFSU’s feminist grantmaking, as well as other international support that we provide to civil society organisations and rightsholders in advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). The work also includes exploring and implementing new and innovative forms of partnerships in an environment where our traditional sources of funding are becoming scarce.
In a time when the realisation of SRHR is increasingly hampered and undermined worldwide, our partners work in challenging contexts, including facing backlash from anti-SRHR and anti-gender movements, as well as other security risks. The International Programme Unit plays a central role in supporting partners and allies as RFSU fulfils its mission of advancing SRHR for all. As the Head of Unit, you will play a crucial role in leading the International Programme Unit in navigating this challenging and dynamic period.
As the Head of Unit, you have operational, budgetary, and personnel responsibility for thirteen employees, who have delegated responsibilities, travel and engage with partners in challenging contexts. You will report to the Director of the Programmes, Knowledge and Learning Department and are part of the department's management team. Together, you share joint responsibility for the department's operational development, strategy, and direction, with the goal of contributing to “One RFSU”.

To be able to fulfil and feel secure in the role and responsibilities of this position, we deem that you should have the following qualifications:
- Several years of experience in leading an international team
- Several years of experience in developing, running and following up international programmes and projects, as well as regular contact with donors, such as Sida, and partner organisations worldwide.
- Competence in SRHR
- Competence in feminist grantmaking
- Competence and knowledge in intersectional feminist and anti-racist perspectives, and the ability to translate these into action in your work and leadership.
- Understanding of anti-SRHR and anti-gender movements, and how these threats could be addressed through self-care, and risk and security management
- Confident in performing all tasks and all communication in both Swedish and English, as both languages are used in the organisation.
- Familiarity with impact investing is also an asset.
We are looking for a Head of Unit who:
- has strong strategic and analytical ability and good attention to detail.
- is innovative and adaptive, focused on finding solutions and achieving results, while building and maintaining trusting relationships both internally and externally.
- is an inspiring and engaged leader who motivates the team and actively works towards equality and anti-racism, with the ability to understand and analyse power and privilege, which is why we value personally lived experiences.
