About RFSU 

RFSU was founded in 1933 and is a pioneering Swedish organisation working in the field of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). RFSU is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation without party-political, trade union or religious affiliation. RFSU’s vision is a world in which everyone is free to make decisions about their own bodies and sexuality. Our aim is to spread a knowledge-based and open view of sexuality and relationships issues to overcome prejudices, bridge knowledge gaps and improve sexual health and wellbeing. We run projects and programmes to promote sexual and reproductive health and rights — both in Sweden and internationally. 

Background to the project 

Learning and Action for Change is a SRHR network of activists and civil society organizations hosted by RFSU. The aim of the network is to generate actionable knowledge and exchange activism practices on SRHR among RFSU’s international partners,like-minded civil society organizations and allies. The network governance mechanism is the so called Steering Committee (SC), where the independent consultant will provide the service. 

The Steering Committee  provides strategic advice and leadership to the Learning and Action for Change network. It will serve as the primary decision making body responsible for defining and advancing the network’s agenda and work plan. It operates at three key levels: providing strategic advice, ensuring coordination, and overseeing operations. In total, the Steering Committee will consist of 8 members.

Aims and scope of the consultancy

The aim of this consultancy is to provide multi-channel support spanning operative capacity, advisory/ consulting,  facilitation and coordination to assist the members of the Steering Committee in the design, development and implementation of the network´s annual work plan and facilitation of the Steering Committee's executive meetings (4 a year). Under the supervision and guidance of the RFSU network coordinator, the consultant will be responsible for:

  • Providing advisory and technical assistance to the Steering Committee (SC). 
  • Supporting the implementation of the annual work plan, including the coordination with external allies and RFSU partners
  • Facilitating coordination across network work-streams and the SC executive meetings.  
  • Co-facilitating  quarterly Steering Committee meetings 
  • Supporting communication and coordination between RFSU and partners within specific actions
  • Coordinating the e-mailing list 
  • Leading the  network´s annual reporting 

 

Consultant’s Workplace and Official Travel

This is a home-based long term consultancy. As part of this assignment, there might be one annual face to face Steering Committee meeting (place to be confirmed). The travel will be arranged by RFSU following RFSU's travel Policy. 

Budget

RFSU offer 300 000 SEK (VAT included). 

Profile of the consultant 

The consultant is expected to have solid and documented knowledge and experience of:

  • Master's degree in Political Science, Development Studies, International Relations, Human Rights or other relevant disciplines, knowledge and experience working with SRHR  issues and intersectional feminist is a strong asset.  
  • Experience working in network building with civil society organizations, networks and grassroots organizations in contexts of restricted civic space. 
  • Experience facilitating remote convenings, workshops and strategic meetings
  • Hands on approach of feminist participatory methodologies and inclusive network  facilitation. 
  • Professional report writing for government, academia, civil society and/ or public institution
  • Good communication and  writing skills in English. Spanish will be an asset. 
  • Commitment with intersectional feminist values and the promotion of LGTBQI+ rights and SRHR. 

Timeline

The consultant mission is expected to begin during the first half of March 2026 and continue until 31st December 2026
